Objectives

The project will accomplish the following:

* Identification of key industry processes and content publishing tools for mobile authoring

* Identification and analysis of distribution models

* Development of student learning outcomes based on findings

* Development of curricula and integration of core concepts into existing training programs.

* Establish a model Mobile Media Academy consisting of a partnership between a high school media academy and a community college.

* Replicate the Mobile Media Academy in one additional location and through one online deployment

* Development of prototypical Mobile Learning applications for the deployment of instruction and training on mobile devices.

* Workforce Training for Mobile Media Development.

* Online Teaching and Learning for the Mobile Industry.

* Curriculum Development of Mobile Content Publishing and Delivery.

* Identification of Critical Industry Processes and Trends for Entering Workers.

The grant based objectives:

Objective 1 Establish project management processes and initiate project workplan to develop an industry-driven collaborative entitled Mobile Media Institute.

Objective 2 Conduct environmental scan of regional employers to identify workforce needs in mobile media occupations and industry trends which will impact.

Objective 3 Convene an industry advisory board for the Mobile Media Institute that wiH provide ongoing consultation and direction for program development.

Objective 4 Survey existing multimedia arts programs in the region to determine courses/programs which may be modified to incorporate mobile media.

Objective 5 Assess current industry training models and curricula (such as Qualcomm's CDMA University) to determine what might be adopted and incorporated.

Objective 6 Develop instructional design for courses and certificates.

Objective 7 Develop courses using a combination of online and existing courses that will serve as a statewide model for mobile media development.

Objective 8 Deliver instructional workshops, courses, and customized training for MMI constituents.

Objective 9 Develop outreach activities that promote career clusters in mobile media and provide transitional “bridges” to higher education in media-realted fields.

Objective 10 Develop in-service training, faculty mentorships, faculty and staff development and worksite experiences.

Objective 11 Develop marketing strategies to promote MMI training and services to differentiated populations of developers, media producers, content providers.

Objective 12 Develop relationships with local media industry that will allow students opportunities for job shadowing, informational interviews and internships.

Objective 13 Disseminate project information through the Economic and Workforce Development program and serve as a primary resource to California.

Objective 14 Collaborate with other Initiative Projects to conduct statewide Initiative activities, including the sharing of Project resources.

Objective 15 Support EWD initiative-wide efforts and data collection.
